The Gifts of Imperfection
Brené Brown's guide to letting go of who you think you should be and embracing who you are — with wholehearted courage.
I came to Brene Brown, again, through my sister. Thanks, Linda! I found her refreshingly honest and down to earth. I watched her TED Talks and was immediately sucked in. She "spoke my language" for sure.
I knew a book with this title would be for me, since self-love was something I needed help with, I spent more than most of my life not embracing my imperfections. I never felt that I was enough. Not tall enough, skinny enough, smart enough, talented enough, good enough...so this was a tall order for me. Brown writes about worthiness. That was eye opening. Did I deserve to feel okay? Of course, this was a huge issue for me that would take time, but a great question to consider.
She organizes the book into ten guideposts - things to help you move through the world that are very practical, so it's not just about pointing out what you may be doing wrong. It's another life-changer.
