Zoe with dandelions

Today I find beauty in the simplest of things, like my beloved Zoe walking among the flowers, who sadly passed away.

But a few years back, life wasn't that simple and I struggled to find beauty in anything. I also struggled with anxiety, depression and terrible PTSD. Throughout this difficult time, I wrote. Much of what you will read on this website is an example of the pain I went through as I healed.

I have no other goal than to share my stories to offer a safe place for others who struggle with the pain of mental health issues. I felt very alone in my journey. It took a long time to realize I was not only NOT alone, but many, many people felt the same way. I wish I knew that at the time. It may have shortened my recovery by years.

There is a stigma when it comes to asking for help. I wish to help break that stigma by shedding light on those who suffer with mental health issues. I also know the only way to deal with your trauma is to work through it, not around it. Of course, that doesn't mean here, or with me. But with someone you trust. A friend, a therapist, a sibling -  sometimes it's not the person you think it will be, or the person you HOPE it will be. Keep looking until you find the right person. You deserve it.

There is strength in sharing your story. I am proof of that. My story matters. I matter. And so do you.

~ I wish you peace and love, Jeanne

The Author

Who the heck am I?

I am a mom, wife, sister, daughter, friend, educator, and someone who has struggled with depression, anxiety and Bipolar Disorder for years. I'm also a poet and an author, and a musician — I can't be defined by one single word, though many have tried. I'm a myriad of things at any given time. I'm always evolving. I'm pretty darn funny — oh, and I'm a chocaholic, too. Thanks, Mom! And I love helping people. If you want to know the bad stuff, read the memoir — it's pretty much all in there!
