A Life Told in Stories

I'm a poet, author, teacher, and storyteller whose work is rooted in the belief that every life holds a story worth telling.

About Jeanne

Where the Writing Comes From

Growing up, I was always telling stories, much to the disdain of my older brother and sister. When I could finally write, I didn't stop. Story after story, poem after poem. I admit, they were simplistic, and pretty much stayed that way. But stories ran through my head constantly. I had an entire world going on in there.

My collection of poems comes from a very difficult time of my life, before I entered recovery, when I struggled a great deal. You can feel the emotion leaking from my soul. Anyone reading them could tell I was hurting.

The middle grade book was an idea that was born out of the classroom. Students wanted to talk about COVID all the time. Plus, there were so many other issues they wanted to talk about that weren't in the curriculum. So I stepped back from the memoir I was working on and wrote it. For me, it was a book that needed to be written.

My memoir, Kiss Your Monster, has been a true monster and labor of love. Deeply personal and revealing, it has taken more than ten years to complete - as my journey towards healing has taken just as long.   And, life goes on... thanks for reading. Everyone has a story worth sharing.  Jeanne :)
